Former world number one Andy Murray said that restoring the tennis season to be delayed by the coronavirus pandemic is not the most important thing, because the players first want to live a normal life again.
Due to the outbreak, professional tennis has been suspended since March, and both the ATP and WTA Tour stated that the disruption will continue until at least mid-July.
Murray has previously said that tennis will be a recently resumed sport.
Murray said after defeating Rafa Nadal in the virtual Madrid Open esports game: “I’m sure all tennis players hope to resume the game as soon as possible.”
“But now, this is not the most important thing. First, we hope to restore our normal life. Then, hope that as time goes by, everything will start to allow travel and sports will be able to return to normal.
