Due to the impact of digitalization and the challenges brought by Covid-19, magazine publisher BluInc Media Sdn Bhd has ceased operations.
The publisher is known for producing magazines such as CLEO, HerWorld, Jelita, Marie Claire, and closed on Thursday (April 30).
Its CEO Datin Azliza Tajuddin said that for many years, the business has been facing huge challenges due to digital disruption.
“Although we have invested more in building digital capabilities, it is still unclear whether we have gained enough attractiveness while the losses continue to increase.
He said: “With the current movement control order (MCO) that includes Covid-19, the losses even continue to increase in the months of March and April, and this trend is expected to continue in the coming months.
Azliza said in a note to BluInc Media employees: “Not sure if we can see any light at the end of the tunnel.”
She said the board decided to stop operating BluInc’s print and digital publications.
