Lars-Christer Olsson, member of the UEFA Executive Committee of the European Football Council, said that the COVID-19 crisis may affect the football ’s international calendar “two to three years” and may affect Qatar World Cup 2022.
The new coronavirus has infected 3.13 million people worldwide and killed more than 218,000 people, but it was suspended due to the delay of the European Cup in 2020 to 2021 and the national league and intercontinental club games, which caused serious damage to the football schedule.
The Qatar World Cup is scheduled to be held from November 21 to December 18, 2022. Olson said that this is a “wait and see” event if the four-year event can be held.
When asked at a Soccerex webinar about when he thought the international calendar would be affected, Olson said: “I think it’s about two or three years.”
