Two officials said on Saturday (May 2) that Thailand will lift other restrictions after curbing the outbreak of coronavirus and end the ban on alcohol sales on Sunday.
The ban took effect on April 10 to prevent social gatherings.
“The new order will take effect on Sunday, which means you can buy and sell liquor, beer, wine. You can buy it from the restaurant, but only as a takeaway. You can go to a convenience store anywhere in the country, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam told Reuters.
Bangkok Metropolitan Authority spokesman Pongsakorn Kwangmuang also told Reuters that the ban will be lifted in Bangkok on Sunday and he will officially announce it on Saturday.
