Starting Monday (May 18), Penangites will be able to dine in all restaurants in the state.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow confirmed this at a press conference held via Facebook on Friday (May 15).
“This was decided at a meeting of the State Executive Committee held on Wednesday (May 13).
“We decided to allow all food and beverage establishments in the state.
Chow said: “Local authorities and local government administrations and state health departments will need to issue guidelines for the second stage of dining services.”
According to him, Penang is now fully implementing the conditional movement control order (MCO) through this move, and all economic areas that the National Security Council (NSC) allows it to operate are now open.
The state government announced on May 12 that starting Friday, restaurants in Penang shopping malls, hotels and fast food chains have been allowed to open for meals.
Chow said he hopes everyone will follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) established by the local government announced on May 13.
