Sabah has stopped all charter flights for university students entering the state because a large number of returnees pose a risk of congestion at their quarantine centers.
State Education and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr. Yusof Yacob (picture) said about 6,796 students plan to return to the state.
He said that due to a large number of people, the quarantine center will not be able to cope with the number of students, nor will it be able to immediately return the public from outside the state to Sabah.
“We expect congestion at the quarantine centres provided by the government. We are stopping or postponing the chartered flights for now, ” he said.
Dr Yusof urged students to remain calm and patient and also inform their parents of the development.
