IGP: Jho Low Is Hiding In Macau

Fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, is hiding in Macau, says Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador (pic).

The Inspector-General of Police said all indications pointed to Jho Low being in Macau.

“He is known to have conducted business transactions while based there.

“We are pursuing every avenue to track him down and bring him to justice,” he said when contacted on Wednesday (July 29).

Jho Low’s family members were moving freely in Hong Kong, Hamid added.

“As I mentioned before, I have never given up efforts to bring him back.

“Jho Low is considered the most wanted man on our radar, and I don’t intend to slow down in my pursuit of him.

“He (Jho Low) is responsible for robbing the nation’s coffers. We will not rest until he is behind bars.

“Because of him and the other culprits, the country is strapped with debts,” he said.

Hamid said police were working quietly to recover the stolen funds, as well as to bring back Jho Low.

The IGP had previously said he would not give up on the hunt for Jho Low, former SRC International Sdn Bhd managing director and CEO Nik Faisal Ariff Kamil and several others who conspired to steal from the country.

Earlier this month, Hamid also confirmed that Nik Faisal was hiding in Hong Kong.

“We obtained (information) that Nik Faisal and his family members were indeed in Hong Kong.

“We have since sought the assistance of Hong Kong authorities to apprehend him as an Interpol Red Notice has been issued on him.

“It is the responsibility of the authorities in any country to apprehend a suspect with an Interpol Red Notice. In fact we have passed to our counterparts in Hong Kong the details (on Nik Faisal) but their initial responses were negative.

“These are some of the constraints that we are facing.

“As the police, we respect the pursuit of justice in law enforcement, thus if there is any request from other countries for our cooperation, we will assist,” he had said during a press conference on July 10.

Jho Low, Nik Faisal, Eric Tan Kim Loong, Casey Tang, Jasmine Loo Ai Swan and Geh Choh Heng have been on the wanted list since 2015.
