Actress Nicole Kidman last saw her 80-year-old mum Janelle, who resides in Sydney, Australia, eight months ago, shortly before the pandemic struck.
Kidman, 53, lives in Tennessee, United States, with husband and country crooner Keith Urban and their two daughters.
Due to lockdown restrictions, Kidman and her mum have been weathering through the pandemic continents apart.
“I have my immediate family here, but I don’t have my extended family, who are so much a part of me. I can’t touch them. So many people are in exactly the same position. So many people right now are going, ‘When do I see my family again?'” Kidman told The Sydney Morning Herald back in May.
The Big Little Lies actress also wished she could spend Mother’s Day with her mum during the interview.
“I wanted to acknowledge that so many of us cannot go and hug our mothers and say thank you, and happy Mother’s Day.”
She continued: “I would love to be able to have a cup of tea with mum and sit on the balcony and talk about life, and have her tell me what I should be doing.”
It looks like Kidman can finally do just that. On Aug 2, Kidman posted on Instagram she has finally reunited with her mum.
“Feels so good to be able to hug my mum! It’s been 8 months. I missed her 80th birthday but I’m here now. Love you Mumma,” she wrote, accompanied by a photo of her giving her mum a warm embrace.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
